Before 70/30 Had a Name

For decades, the principles behind 70/30 DNA™ existed without a formula.

The earliest documented sources appear in two letters written by my mother in 1991 and 1994.
One letter taught business courage, practical judgment, and personal responsibility.
The other taught love, relational stewardship, and the importance of protecting the emotional weather of the home.

Neither letter mentioned artificial intelligence.
Neither letter mentioned 70/30 DNA™.
Yet both contained the wisdom that would eventually become visible through it.

In May 2025, I returned to China to spend time with my mother. In my suitcase, I carried every letter she had written to me since I left China in 1988. I was not bringing them back for me. I was bringing them back for her.

Over the following days, I sat beside her and began reading the letters aloud. I only managed to read about ten of them.

When I reached the third letter, dated 15 October 1991, the words landed with the force of a revelation.

For decades, I thought I understood what she had been teaching me.

Sitting there, reading her own words back to her, I realised there were lessons I had only fully understood through consequence.

A few days later, Mum passed away.

The letters stayed with me.

Over the following weeks, I found myself reflecting on the patterns hidden inside them.

The letters spoke about:

• courage,
• responsibility,
• judgment,
• family,
• love,
• work,
• consequences,
• and protecting what cannot be replaced.

The wisdom was already there.
I simply had not yet recognised its structure.

When AI later entered the picture, it did not create that wisdom. It helped me see the pattern.

Through Conversational Forging™ during July 2025, the relationship between:
Over the decades that followed, those principles were tested through:

• human wisdom,
• machine capability,
• responsibility,
• authority,
• and consequence

became increasingly clear.

On 1 August 2025, the formulation was complete enough to be publicly submitted as part of an award application.

That date marks the formal codification of 70/30 DNA™.

The wisdom came first.
Life forged it.
AI helped reveal its structure.
Human authority remained.

The Question

Every part of the work eventually returns to one question:

Who owns the consequence?

Because capability may be shared. Responsibility is not.
